Designation of Origin: Deutscher Landwein Main
Vintage: 2024
Alcohol: 11%
Grape(s): 100% Johanniter
Vineyard: This vineyard is so special to us. Planted by Erhard and Linda in 2005, it has never felt the sprinkle of a sprayer. Even in difficult vintages, it stands on its own without protection against diseases. We suspect the large amount of oregano growing in the rows, a known antibacterial, has something to do with it. The energy in that vineyard is grounding, with the view that stretches over the fields. And if you think we are woo-woo for talking about energy, come and spend on day in the vines with us and you’ll get it.
Vinification: Foot-stomped with stems, one night on the skins, pressed the next morning, fermented in stainless, then put to rest in its big barrel.
Aging: Aged in one oval barrel of 1100L
Bottled: 14th of August 2025
Soil type: Gipskeuper
Age of vines: This vineyard was planted in 2005.
Sulfur: All of our wines had a microdose of sulfur pre-bottling, and analyses came back under 20mg total.
A note about the name: This is simply how we have been referring to this wine since its inception. Johnny is short for Johanniter in our cellar, and the vineyard is… on the hill.
